GDSIII Plan by ©L2Onaval

Grain de Sail III will be a cargo sailboat entirely powered by wind (except for port and channel maneuvers), with a maximum air draft 62,50 m with 4000 m2 of sails (43 055 ft2) with retractable daggerboards. A ship that crosses the Atlantic in just around 13 days !

Reduction of carbon footprint by over 90%, with emissions between 1 and 2 grams of CO₂ per ton of cargo transported per kilometer traveled, which is 10 to 20 times less than the current fleet.

Developpment of large rigid sails on 3 masts capable of reducing sail area when necessary (reefing). SOLID SAIL rigging optimized for a pure cargo sailing ship of this size.

The design of Grain de Sail III is carefully thought out to develop an almost passive cargo sailing ship, ensuring onboard energy production (high insulation + powerful hydrogeneration technologies + wood pellet boiler).
