Travelogue
The building
Our 72-feet long schooner was built in compliance with the highest professional standards by Grand Large Yachting & Alumarine shipyard near Nantes, France. With 35 metric tons of loading capacity, our floating cellar will be able to bring to NYC around 15 000 bottles of the best organic, biodynamic and natural French wines!
Step 1The Loading of the Hull
On the 6th of November 2020, we loaded 22 pallets of organic, biodynamic and natural French Wines in the beautiful port of Saint Malo France.
A first experience for both dockers and sailors on a Cargo Sailboat and an amazing moment for all the GDS Crew!
The Great Departure
Its time! On the 18th of November 2020, our 4 brave sailors and our proud Cargo Sailboat left their home port of Saint Malo full of 15,000 bottles.
They will cross the Atlantic only thanks to the power of the wind and will be in NYC in around 1 month.
Be ready the Big Apple!
New York City
After 28 days of crossing the Atlantic, the Grain de Sail reached NYC for the first time! After a week in Brooklyn she left to the Dominican Republic without forgetting to pass in front of the magnificent Liberty Statue
Step 4Dominican Republic
The Grain de Sail reached the D.R to load up to 40 tons of cocoa mass and some amazing coffees! It’s now time to go back to our home port in Brittany.
Step 5St Nazaire
They are back! Our 4 brave sailors arrived in St Nazaire to unload the cocoa mass & coffee on the 17th of February after a 3 month transatlantic trip. What a success!
